How did the Industrial Revolution change Britain?
This half term we have been learning about the Industrial Revolution and how this affected life in Britain. We have looked at some of the key inventions, explored factory conditions and looked at what houses were like at this time. Did you know that, at this time, many children were working in the factories from the age of just 5 years old?
On Tuesday 26th March, we visited Richard Arkwright’s mill in Cromford. We spent the day living as child workers, including dressing up and trying some of the many jobs that children did at this time. During the afternoon, we explored the local village and learnt about Arkwright encouraged people to come and work in his factories.
