Important information

P.E. days

4/5S have their PE lessons on Wednesday and Friday.

Clean PE kits should be brought in to school on a Monday morning and will be sent home for a wash on a Friday. It is essential that the kit is in school all through the week (even on non-PE days) as our timetable can sometimes change at short notice. Please see the Sutherland Primary Academy uniform policy for further guidance on PE kit items. Please not that earrings must be removed for PE.

Reading

Reading is incredibly important for your child's development. Once they have been assessed, children at Sutherland each have a banded reading book. Each time they read at home and get their diary signed by an adult, they are able to earn tokens additional Golden Stamps! Three adult signatures = 1 golden stamp; six adult signatures = 2 golden stamps. We advise that you listen to your child read aloud sometimes, even if they are independent readers, and ask them questions about what they have read. 

Golden Homework

Golden homework is another great way to earn extra Golden Stamps! Homework tasks are handed out at the start of every term and they can earn up to four Golden Stamps for each of the fortnightly homework tasks. Children can earn a higher number of Golden Stamps for homework that is completed to a fantastic standard. Our current homework tasks can be found in the Golden Homework section  above. 

Spellings

Spellings are handed out at the start of every term. The children have five words per week to practise and learn, and they will be tested on them every Friday. Please help your child by practising at home! The full list of spellings for this term can be found in the Spellings section above.
