🌼Summer Term 1🌼

As we head into the summer term we will be taking part in some exciting topics and activities:

🌼What animals live on the farm?

We will be discussing and naming the various animals which live on the farm. We will then further our learning by discussing their babies and naming them, allowing us to then match the mother’s and their young.

🌼What is in the egg? and the life cycle of a hen and chick

One of the main reasons this topic is a favourite amongst staff is that during this topic we also have a big surprise for the children. We will have some chick and duck eggs that will arrive at nursery, these eggs will be kept warm within an incubator and hopefully in a few weeks we will have some little chicks and ducklings to look after. During this time we will be learning all about the various animals which will hatch from eggs.

🌼Dates for the diary:

15th May- Trip to the Peak Wildlife Park

Our nursery children would like to introduce our little ducklings which have recently hatched. 🐣

☀️Suncream☀️

As we head into the summer months, we hope that we get some lovely sunshine.  We therefore politely ask that all children bring into school a sunhat and labelled water bottle. Also all children must have sun cream applied before coming into school so we can enjoy some of the lovely weather outside safely as unfortunately we can not apply any here at school.

⭐️General Information⭐️

 P.E.
Our P.E. days are Monday and Tuesday with Mr Penk, Mr Meakin and Mr Hands. For Health and Safety please ensure that long hair is tied up and earrings are removed.

Reading
In our weekly guided reading sessions each child has the opportunity to choose 2 new books to take home. One book will be a library book which the children can choose from a selection of stories in the reading tent. The second book is a ‘discussion’ book, this will be a book without any words, just pictures. These books are brilliant for encouraging a child’s imagination, communication, language and story telling skills. Each night the children may look at their discussion book but may create a different story or notice something they didn’t see in the pictures the night before.

Uniform

Please ensure that children have each piece of their uniform clearly labelled to avoid losing them. Please could each child also have a spare pair of clothes available on their peg daily in case a change of clothes is needed during the school day.

Water

Where possible, please could children come to school with a bottle containing water only. Thank you

Golden stamps and homework

Each day the children will have the opportunity to earn two golden stamps at school when they follow the golden rules. We will be sending home golden homework home every Thursday, there are activities that you can complete with your child at home, and stamps will be rewarded for the effort your child has made. At the end of each half term they can use use these golden stamps to choose a golden activity. The golden stamps that are not used each term will be saved for the end of the year golden activities; these activities require a higher number of stamps and include visits to the monkey forest and cheeky monkeys.
