Maths
In Year One, children are taught a range of essential maths including:
- Place Value
- Addition and Subtraction
- Multiplication and Division
- Time
- Shape, Space and Measure
- Fractions
In addition, by the end of KS1, children should be confident in their 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
Times Tables
Times Table Rockstars
Times Table Rockstars (TT Rockstars) is our new whole-school initiative to get pupils practising their times tables! Every child has been given a TT Rockstars login and we encourage them to spend a few minutes a day practising their times tables. Year 1 should be focusing on their 2s, 5s and 10s. Please see the guidance above for more information.
Homework
Children will receive maths homework occasionally in order to practise basic maths skills, cement the week's maths learning or brush up on a previously learning maths topic. This will be due back within the two weeks after being set.
