🗳️ Democracy Week 2026
We are excited to be holding our annual Democracy Week, commencing 21st September 2026!
Throughout the week, children will learn about the importance of democracy and what it means to have a voice and play an active role in our school community. They will have the opportunity to write their own manifestos, share their ideas and take part in our Sutherland Elections, where they will vote for their new School Council representatives.
Democracy Week is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop important life skills, including communication, confidence, critical thinking, decision-making, listening and teamwork. It also encourages children to respect different opinions, understand the importance of having their voice heard and recognise the responsibilities that come with being part of a community.
We look forward to an exciting week of learning, discussion and, of course, voting! 🗳️
Come back soon to see the results!
What is the School Council?
At Sutherland, we are very proud to have an active School Council. Our pupils meet once every half term to discuss things that are working well for them within the school and things that they would like to see improve. Our representatives are fantastic at engaging with the school community to drive forward change.
