~Important Information~
P.E. Days
Our PE day is Wednesday.
Children should come to school every Wednesday in full PE kit (list can be found alongside uniform list). Every Wednesday, children will take part in one teacher led PE session and one ASM led PE session.
Spellings and Homework
Reading is incredibly important to your child's development. Children at Sutherland each have a banded reading book and a free choice book. We would like to see children reading at least three times per week.
Flipped Learning will be given out at the end of each half term. This learning will allow children the opportunity to develop some prior knowledge ahead of the learning in school the following half term.
Arithmetic and SPAG homework is set every Friday. If the homework is not completed, it can be completed on a Friday lunchtime in our support club. We also offer a support group on a Thursday after school for pupils who would like some extra support with their homework.
Times Tables Rock Stars is highly important to developing fluency in Maths. Children are expected to practise for a total of 10 minutes per week, ideally 2 minutes per night.
Spellings for the whole year have been handed out on the first day of the new school year. These can be found under the Spellings tab above. Spelling tests take place each Friday and we have a competition between the Year 6 classes to see which class can get the highest average score.
Thank you to all of the parents who actively support and encourage their children in reading and completing their homework- it will make such a difference to their progress!
Please be aware that our KS2 SATs assessment week will be the week commencing Monday 12th May 2025. It is really important that children are in school every day in the weeks leading up to this! Following SATs, we will be working very hard on our writing assessments. This writing assessment requires up to six pieces of extended writing to be completed and the deadline is the end of June, and it is vital that children are in school during this period.
