In our weekly Poetry Basket sessions we learn a poem which help the children to develop their ear for language. The Poetry Basket offers thirty-six poems that are suitable for 3 to 6 year olds.

The aim for the Poetry Basket is that Early Year Practitioners and Parents will enjoy watching the poems and memorising the words and actions and then passing these on to the children.

After the first time of reciting the poem, we tell the children that they can say the words with us if they like. Learning the poems will come over time, from hearing them regularly and from finding them enjoyable.
