Rhino Readers

We follow the Twinkl Rhino Readers scheme. Each child has a book matched to their phonics level and reads with an adult three times a week; Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The focuses are:

Monday: word-reading

Tuesday: prosody and fluency

Wednesday: comprehension

On Wednesday, the children take their book home to read. The book needs to be returned the Monday after it is sent home. It is really important that the books are returned in order to allow other children to read them. Please also ensure they are returned in a good condition.

Reading at Home

Reading at home with your child has numerous benefits for their learning. In order to help your child progress with their reading, you should aim to read at home with them three times a week. Reading at home also encourages them to develop a passion in reading.
