Our geography topic is Rainforests!

Our science topic is States of Matter!

PE and Swimming

Our class has their PE lessons every Tuesday. The children should come into school in their PE kit, and ensure all jewellery is removed, including earrings. The school PE kit consists of: a plain dark green T-shirt, black shorts (of a suitable length) and jogging bottoms, a plain black /school jumper or cardigan.

Swimming lessons will take place after February half-term for 4MC/MLS - please see the letter in the Letters section above for more information.

Reading, Spelling and Times tables

Reading is incredibly important to your child's development. Children at Sutherland each have a banded reading book and are encouraged to read every night. Children also have access to the school library to choose books to take home to read.

Spellings will be taught on a Monday and tested on a Friday. Spellings for each term can be seen below, and should be practised at home in preparation for the test on Fridays.

Times tables are a focus this year with the times table check in the summer term. Children have Times table Rock Stars logins in the front of their reading diaries, and we encourage them to practise all tables daily at home.
