Important information
P.E. days
Our PE lessons this year will be taught on a Wednesday and a Friday it is crucial that PE kits are in school on these days every week.
Clean PE kits should be brought in to school on a Monday morning and children will be reminded to bring them home on Fridays in order for them to get washed. It is essential that the kit is in school all through the week (even on non-PE days) as our timetable can sometimes change at short notice. Please see the Sutherland Primary Academy uniform policy for further guidance on PE kit items.
Spellings and Homework
Reading is incredibly important to your child's development. Once they have been assessed, children at Sutherland each have a banded reading book. Each time they read at home and get their diary signed by an adult, they are able to earn tokens which they can collect and convert in to additional Golden points! Each time an adult signs a reading diary, the child will earn an extra 2 golden points, up to a maximum of 10 golden points a week! We would also like to encourage the children to read independently when possible, and to ask parents to sign their diaries when they do, so they can still get their Golden Stamps for reading! There may even be a hidden treat in it for children who read often.
Golden homework is another great way to earn extra Golden Points! Homework tasks are handed out at the start of every term and the number of Golden Points is shown for each homework task. Children can earn a higher number of Golden Points for homework that is completed to a fantastic standard. Our current homework tasks can be found via the Golden Homework tab.
Spellings are tested every Friday. The children have five words each week to practise and learn, and they will be tested on them the following Friday. Please help your child by practising at home! The full list of spellings for this term can be found in the Spellings section above. Children will have opportunities to practise their spellings during school time.
We would like to send out a massive thank you to all parents in advance for being supportive of their children and actively encouraging them to complete their Golden Homework and weekly spellings! We really appreciate it!
Uniform!
Please ensure that all of your children's school uniform and PE kit has their name and class written in, preferably in permanent marker - we do not want you to have to buy brand new clothes every half term!
