RE and PSHE 🌍
In RE, we will be exploring the question “Who is a Muslim and how do they live?” We will learn about some of the beliefs, practices and traditions that are important to Muslims and develop our understanding and respect for different religious beliefs and ways of life. We will also have a visit at some point during the year to a place of worship. Updates will be given about our exciting trip soon!
In PSHE, we will be following the Jigsaw Year 2 scheme of learning. Our first unit, Being Me in My World, will focus on helping children understand themselves as individuals and as members of a class and wider community. We will explore feelings, responsibilities, relationships and how we can work together to create a happy, safe and supportive classroom.
Computing 💻
In Year 2, we will be following the Purple Mash Computing Scheme of Work. Our first unit, 2.1 Coding, will develop the children’s understanding of how computer programs work. They will learn to create and follow simple algorithms, use sequences of instructions, predict what will happen in a program and begin to identify and correct errors through debugging.
The children will also develop their problem-solving and computational thinking skills as they create and test their own simple programs. This builds on the coding knowledge developed in Year 1 and provides an important foundation for their future computing learning.
