In year 1, children are taught handwriting using letter families:

• curly caterpillar letters, e.g. c, a, g
• ladder letters, e.g. l, j, t
• zig-zag monster letters, e.g. z, w, v
• one-armed robot letters e.g. b, m, k 

Handwriting Practice

Handwriting practice takes place every week on a Monday. Children practise forming letters a-z as well as capital letters. Where necessary, children will work on any individual letters they struggle with. Below are some printable worksheets to help your child practise their handwriting at home. Should you require a printed version sent home, please do not hesitate to ask!
