In Science, we will be exploring Growing Up and The Apprentice Gardener, developing our understanding of how living things grow, change and survive.

During Growing Up, the children will investigate how humans and other animals grow from babies or offspring into adults, comparing different stages of life and learning about the basic needs of humans and animals, including food, water and air.

In The Apprentice Gardener, we will become young scientists, exploring how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants, identifying the different parts of plants and investigating what plants need to grow and stay healthy.

Through practical activities, observations and simple investigations, the children will develop their curiosity, ask scientific questions and learn to record and share their findings.

Our learning links to the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum for Science, which focuses on Animals, including humans and Plants, alongside developing scientific enquiry skills such as observing closely, asking questions, carrying out simple tests and recording changes over time.
