New spelling rules/patterns are taught every Monday, and the children will be tested on their 5 weekly spellings every Friday.

It is essential that they regularly practise each spelling rule at home (as well as at school). As a rule, spellings should be learnt without capital letters (unless shown on the specific word e.g. for a name/place). The accompanying document at the bottom of the page provides you with lots of ideas and strategies for learning spellings.
