Sutherland Primary Academy follows a spelling programme called ‘No Nonsense Spelling’. It involves teaching spelling rules on a weekly basis and teaching children to use their growing understanding of these spelling patterns, to have a go at less familiar words.

The children will be tested each Friday on their spellings. As a rule, spellings should be learnt without capital letters (unless shown on the specific word e.g. for a name/place). Please also take a look at the accompanying document which helps with strategies for learning spellings.
