Welcome to 1RY! 

Welcome to 1RY! I am Mrs Yates, the class teacher, and I enjoy spending time with my daughter, my Springer Spaniel dog Rocco and reading! I also love to have fun whilst we learn, with lots of glitter sprinkled on top 

I work alongside Mrs Fernando our Classroom Assistant. The wider Year 1 team is the wonderful Miss Griggs and Mrs Hall in 1MG. We hope you enjoy your time in year 1 with us. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

Ready, Respectful, Safe

The children are using this vocabulary on a daily basis, and it has shown a fantastic, positive effect on the atmosphere around school. 

General information

P.E Days

Our PE days are Tuesday (with Mr Meakin) and Friday (with Mrs Yates). Please ensure children bring their P.E kits with all items labelled. They will then take them home at the beginning of the half term holiday to be washed before bringing them back after the holiday. Thank you!

Uniform

Please ensure that children have each piece of their uniform (and P.E kit) clearly labelled to avoid losing them. 

Water

Where possible, please send your child in with a water bottle, even a plastic one. We have a limited number of cups in the classroom and to avoid them sharing and to keep them healthy, we advise they have a personal bottle. 

Lunches

All KS1 children are entitled to free school meals. The hot dinner changes daily (see the Sutherland Sentinel for the weekly menu) with jacket potatoes and sandwiches/ wraps/ rolls with a range of fillings available every day. Children are also welcome to bring a home packed lunch.
